Makor Media Lab

Congratulations ❤️

Augmented Reality (AR) is a reality enhanced with additional layers of content through technological means. Creator Emi Sfard takes this technology one step further, using it to craft truly unique cinematic stories.

Her recent work, In the Eyes of The Beholding Goat (2024, 15 minutes), was developed two years ago as part of our annual professional incubator workshop for New Media projects. At the end of the incubator, Sfard was awarded a production grant and completed the piece, which has since been presented at the Janco-Dada Museum, the NewImages Festival, and the Sunny Side of the Doc in La Rochelle. This work features AR masks in the shape of a goat’s head, through which the story of the “Black Goat Law” is told (look it up — it’s quite a story!).

Sfard also took part in our recent workshop, held in November 2024, where she collaborated with Irena Bauman on Dream of Belonging — a new AR project that explores questions of identity, trauma, memory and belonging. Once again, the project was selected, alongside three other projects, to receive a development and production grant. Recently, the creators received the exciting news that it was also accepted to the Venice Gap-Financing Market at the Venice Film Festival.

We’re proud to support these unique and innovative works, and wish for continued success on the journey ahead ❤️ 🐐 🙂
