Crossings

This is the first time that a spotlight has shone on the Israeli soldier at the most explosive checkpoints in the Jerusalem Qalandiya and Rachel crossings. Over two million Palestinians pass through these checkpoints a year. In front of them are boys and girls who only graduated from high school yesterday, and today are required to exercise judgment in their friction and Sisyphean work. At the checkpoints, it is clear who is the boss, and who maintains order when necessary, but there is a constant search for how to “manage” and maintain the routine fabric of life. A small match could ignite the area and cause a world of chaos. Among the soldiers, there is a hidden and overt desire to bridge the ongoing conflict. Will Ben, Yuval and Mika succeed in finding the human and the moral? And perhaps this will create a political horizon.
