Dog Beach
Aurit Zamir
A dog washes ashore, drenched and nameless. Maya, who finds him, immediately understands that he lost someone in the depths. She knows loss. Maya quickly passes him on; she doesn’t want to take care of someone else—she can barely take care of herself. Yet the thoughts of the dog and the dark depths cling to her, pulling her to reclaim him from the shelter. Maya searches for his name, as if it holds the key to understanding the dog, who he has lost, and how it relates to her life.
