Murder in the Estate
Adam Horowitz
Murder in the Estate is an interactive virtual reality experience that transports viewers back in time to witness the early days of Tel Aviv, the first Hebrew city. Using cutting-edge 3D animation and immersive world simulations, the project brings history to life.
Inspired by the iconic 1923 photograph by Avraham Soskin, the experience recreates the moment when Soskin stood atop Tel Aviv’s first city hall, capturing a panoramic view of Rothschild Boulevard and the sea’s horizon. This historic image serves as a gateway to a virtual journey into the past, allowing participants to explore the city in its infancy, encounter reconstructed landmarks, and uncover a historical mystery.
In April 1923, Avraham Schneor was brutally murdered in his home in Ahuzat Bayit. His skull was crushed with a hammer, and in his pocket was an envelope containing 200 liras—a significant sum at the time. The shocking crime was never solved.
Murder in the Estate is based on this true story. Participants will join David Tidhar, Israel’s first detective, as he investigates the case. Through a meticulously reconstructed version of the small neighborhood that later became the Tel Aviv metropolis, they will navigate key historical locations, step inside long-lost buildings, and perhaps even uncover the murderer’s identity.
