Ahmed is a movie star
Doron Djerassi
In 1966, the premiere of Ram Loevy’s first film, I Am Ahmad, sparked a public uproar, with viewers crying out that it was “a knife in the back of the State of Israel.” The Film Censorship Board demanded changes to the film, despite having already approved the script. Then as now, placing an Arab character at the center of the story continues to provoke fears and calls for censorship.
