Bystanding: The Feingold Syndrome

Nim Shapira, Roi Lev (Director: Nim Shapira)

In 2009, Jasmine Feingold, Israeli rowing champion, lost consciousness and capsized with her scull boat in Tel Aviv’s Ha’Yarkon River. While she stayed submerged underwater for 5 minutes, none of the dozens of bystanders nearby jumped into the water to help her. Using novel techniques of volumetric capture, photogrammetry, animations, and 360º videos, ‘Bystanding’ allows participants to experience bystanders’ deepest confessions from that day.
