My Bee Family
Adva Ofir
A swarm of bees found by Grandpa Yishai in 1959 began the Ophir family’s beekeeping tradition, a profession seen as essential and habitual yet burdensome. His sons, Tzvika and Eyal, continue this demanding work. When Saba Yishai is hospitalized, granddaughter Adva begins to carefully document the family’s journey for over a decade, observing and reflecting on their profound connection to bees, nature, and their interdependence. Through her lens, she witnesses their experiences with uncertainty, aging, death, and renewal. This is a love letter to the land, agriculture, and Israeli nature, conveyed through the story of one family.
