Between the ancient gates of Jerusalem, Angelie walks. Her mother scrubs floors while she looks out into the city that raised her. She belongs to Jerusalem, but her belonging is not unequivocal. While her mother’s future is foggy, Angelie shifts between two mothers – one who fights to stay, and another who will never leave. The film examines the lives of immigrant children through the eyes of a brave young woman. Together with her, we embark on a personal, poetic, and almost fantastical journey – about a difficult childhood and a search for identity and belonging, in the Old City of Jerusalem, as a child of Filipino immigrant workers.
